History
HMMA
was established as a satellite school of The
Selwyn School in Denton in 1981. "Selwyn Country
Day School" opened on a leased site in Trophy
Club. In 1987, the school moved to its current location
in Southlake. In 1990, it was agreed that Selwyn
Country Day School would separate from the
Selwyn School in Denton and Highland Meadow
Montessori Academy (HMMA) was established as a
non-profit, Montessori school with its own
governing board. The campus consists of several
classroom buildings, playgrounds and a soccer
field with room for future expansion.
HMMA is an affiliate school
with the American Montessori Society and its
faculty are certified Montessori teachers. Our
goal is to provide an educational environment
with an atmosphere of warmth, love, caring and
respect. The needs and safety of the children
always come first, and it is our desire to
foster the development of the whole child.
HMMA
currently offers Montessori education for
children from 18 months through 12 years. There
are currently 115 students enrolled at HMMA. We
have one toddler class, three primary classes,
one junior elementary, and one senior elementary
class. The school maintains its small school
intimacy while offering additional enrichment
classes.
